The American University Beekeeping Society welcomed a new colony of bees on March 20.
After a cold winter caused them to lose their hive, the club members joined together to facilitate the transfer of a new queen and her colony.
While the hives are located on the second floor of Mary Graydon Center, the pollinators are free to travel around campus. Bees play an important role in supporting agricultural industries and ecosystems, according to a November 2023 AU Beekeeping Society Instagram post.
