On Nov. 10, 2022, American University students walked out of their classes to protest sexual violence and the university’s response to an incident in Leonard Hall earlier that month. The university referred to the incident as sexual misconduct and unauthorized entry in a Nov. 9 email to the AU community. One year later, the demands of the student protestors have still not been fully met, according to organizers of the walkouts. To continue making their voices heard, supporters walked out of their classes on Nov. 10, 2023, gathered on the quad and wore red.
